Pahrump Valley Firefighters IAFF Local 4068
The Pahrump Valley Firefighters, International Association of Fire Fighters Local 4068, was established September 1st, 2000 and is a labor representative for Career Firefighters and Active-Retirees of the Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue (PVFR) located in Pahrump Nevada/Nye County. IAFF Local 4068 advocates for the safety of firefighters and the citizens they serve. Local 4068 members serve over 47,000 residents within a 360 square-mile area, respond to over 10,000 calls a year and provide Fire Suppression, HazMat, Fire Prevention/Inspection, and ALS EMS Services. PVFR currently staffs three (3) Fire Stations with a total of eleven (11) firefighters and one (1) Captain on duty a day. Although the local has made great strides in improving the safety of our Town and members in the past much more work is needed. We invite our elected officials and members of the public to help us achieve our goals of bringing our staffing up to the levels recommend by NFPA 1710 as well as numerous other industry and professional standards. Along with increasing our staffing, top goals for the union include reducing the span of control to a more reasonable level, increasing the training budget and the rehiring of the training and life safety positions. The safety of the citizens we serve and our members is always at the forefront of our thoughts and actions and once again we invite the political leaders of Nye County to step forward and help us in our goals for a better and safer County and Fire Department. The Pahrump Valley Firefighters IAFF Local 4068 is affiliated with the International Association of Fire Fighters, Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada, Nevada State AFL-CIO and National AFL-CIO.
